This is a very special edition of JAMM and I beg you all to link to this story in some way.

This story is just insane, and that doesn't even cover the tip of the iceberg. At the heart of it is 2 year old Caylee Marie Anthony, who has not been seen since June 9th. Her mother, for reasons I guess only known to her, did not report her missing. She says that she dropped her off at a babysitter, and when she returned, the sitter and her daughter were gone. Her story is that she began her own investigation, believing, based on TV shows she’s seen (at least this is what is in the news story I read), that Caylee could be harmed if she notified police of her disappearance. What TV shows this girl was watching I’m not sure. (In almost much every one I’ve seen involving a missing two year old, the parents called police, even if they were warned not to.)

I’m not going to try to analyze this whole thing too much, I’m going to agree with Caylee’s grandfather here. The most important thing, and what should be receiving the most focus, is finding Caylee. This case has some wild and tangled bits to it. But the thing that's important is this little girl is missing.

I’m going to post a few pictures, along with the news story and the video from Fox News, which includes a bunch of other pictures. There’s also one Myspace page mentioned in the news story, and two other ones that I found linked to this one that appear to have been created by family members.

The more exposure this little girl gets, the better chance there is that she’ll be found. Please,if you’re a blogger, I’d encourage you to repost Caylee’s picture, if you’re on My Space, please consider posting a bulletin with Caylee’s picture. If you're located in the Southeast (Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Mississippi), please keep your eyes open. It is possible that thischild could still be alive and in this area.

  7. What a horrible news story and those poor grandparents. I heard the newly released 911 calls by the grandmother last night. I’m afraid we won’t have a good ending here. That momma KNOWS exactly what happened to that baby.

  9. i think the mom killed little caylee why else who she not talk unless she has mental problems.why would the car smeel like a dead body.why ……….that woman has problem she killed that little girl
    i feel sorry for Caylee

  10. hi. first of all i think the whole family is a bunch of “dark-birds” … creepy people. even the mom’s attorney Jose’-or-whatever is a creepy-jerk. i seen Mr-Jose’-Attorney on the Nancy Grace show & i was APPALLED that he was LAUGHING & JOKING & just really making light of the whole situation. i think possibly little Caylee was sold in return for drugs. this is my opinion.
    Thanks,
    Theresa

  11. @Tamia: I’m not here to offer opnion, and I had hoped that my readers wouldn’t opine on the guilt or innocence of those surrounding this case. It IS my purpose to bring this missing child/endangered child to the attention of my readers. Prayers for all concerned are certainly in order

  12. @Theresa: I had so hoped my readers would not opine on the family and surrounding characters. This little girl is missing. That’s the issue here. Certainly you’re entitled to your opinion. But perhaps there’s a better forum for speaking it.

  13. I hope and pray that caylee is found soon safe and sound. I have a 4 year old little girl my self and I really don’t have any clue what was going threw that mother and grandmothers head. If that was my child I would have called the cops that min. Now what does this mother think people are going to say when she has not called the police untill 30 days after she was missing.

  15. A local news site is saying they have a source about the investigation. One possible theory that that are pursing is, the child drowned in the family pool.

    http://www.wftv.com/news/17136493/detail.html

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Eyewitness News got details Friday of a working theory held by investigators that little Caylee may have drowned in the family swimming pool. A source close to the investigation revealed only to Channel 9 a working theory of the crime involving Caylee drowning and what may have happened next.

The theory is based on the following facts.

Fact #1: Casey Anthony’s phone records show a flurry of unanswered phone calls to her parents on June 16.
Some believe that could be because that’s when something happened to Caylee. A possibility being considered is Caylee could’ve gotten into the backyard pool on her own and was discovered too late.

Fact #2: Eyewitness News was told the Anthony family was careful to keep a ladder near the pool safe from Caylee, but that around the time of her disappearance the ladder was up.

Fact #3: A neighbor says, right around the time Caylee disappeared, Casey had backed the car up to the garage, which the neighbor said was unusual, and borrowed a shovel for about an hour.

Fact #4: The car was later found abandoned at the Amscot at Goldenrod and Colonial and was towed. When Casey’s parents found out and got it back weeks later, Caylee’s disappearance began to unravel. Caylee’s grandmother called 911 and made a frantic plea for help.

“There’s something’s wrong! I found my daughter’s car today and it smells like there’s been a dead body in the damn car!” Cindy Anthony said in the call.

Fact #5: Investigators said they found evidence in the car that indicated Cindy Anthony’s statement was true and the FBI is testing it to verify that.

    **************************

SO, lets assume this is true, and to be honest it is the most plausible thing I’ve heard about whole thing.

Mom finds child in pool, freaks out, tries to call, freaks more and, for whatever reason, buries the child herself. Now as far as any of the things that followed… gas cans, bar hopping, lies, etc… Who here can say how you are supposed to react when you find your child dead. In my book, whatever you do in the for the next 30, 60, 90, 365?? Days, is almost excusable, because I know i would loose my mind and “freak out” just like anyone reading this would (who has a kid and has turned around in the mall or park only to have their heart jump when they cant find their child for 15-30 seconds because they chose to hide behind something). I dont know what I would do!

I had a dog named Maxx for 14 years, he died in my arms, when it happened I lost it and immediately grabbed a shovel and buried him in my back yard, I remember it was very instinct like. Several years later my 15 year old cat passed and I did the same thing, we were going out to eat and I made everyone wait while I buried her. Now I know pets aren’t little girls, but I cant judge this Mom on what she did in that situation, because none of us know what we would do.

So assuming she did flip, we currently have this mom that needs help sitting behind bars, charged with neglect and deceit. Grandparents who’s grandchild is gone and their own child who needs them more than ever locked up and the nation looks on and judges and assumes (like many of the posts above) that the whole crew should be lynched like a witch. We have vans and people sitting on their grass with cameras trained on the front door 24/7 for weeks. If this theory were true would we like to watch them all get together and cry their hearts out for months to come?

Even if this story ends with the Mom actually doing something horrible, just the possibility that a situation like this could arise should temper everyone to “assume innocence, until proven otherwise”. Because if it doesn’t happen in this case it will surely happen in another one and has happened in the past.

I have been captivated and am as guilty of assuming the worst like anybody else, it just hit me when i read the theory that we should all pull back the reins a bit and see what pans out. Would you hate the mom then? or are we all going to end up feeling sorry for a young girl who has just been put through the worst situation that anyone can possible go through and dealt with the situation in a strange but impossible to understand way?

  16. @Erik Mayo: Erik, I’m speechless (doesn’t happen too often). Thanks for your thoughtful and thought provoking comment. This will give me loads to think on. On the surface, I’m with you. We should all pull back. Something, I don’t know what yet, just doesn’t ring true in this whole mess. I pray daily for this family and little girl.

  17. I wonder whatever came into her mother’s head that she never reported her missing?! I pray this little girl is safe and unharmed and will be found soon.

  18. I don’t trust any member of that family as far as I can throw them at this point. I’m utterly disgusted with the way they’ve handled everything thus far: Using their Myspace page to ask for donations in the form of gift cards to department stores, perpetuating lie after lie, making a mockery out of the public, the list goes on and on. How shameful of this family! I pray this little girl is alive. I’m just saddened by this whole case.

  19. try mexico people , she was taken there i bet , by the fathers family, they are pissed cause the mother was a crack head living with a drug dealer , think about it?
