In this speech, Obama talks about having integrity within himself and his campaign. Among other things. This is the full context of the speech.

Yet, look at the following and you try to tell me that there’s integrity.

I can’t make this stuff up folks, you decide.

Smarter Than A Fifth Grader!

Dear Mr (s) Obama and McCain,

I’m a mom, a writer and a southerner and I have had it up to my ears with this political season! So, I’m just going to pack up and move to Costa Rica and watch this kindergarten brawl from a distance. I’ve had enough with the name calling, the blatant lies, the glib comments , and the absolute childishness that this entire campaign has taken on.

Mr. Obama  your surrogates, like the Momocrats and others derive some unique joy in bashing the person and personal character of your opponent and his running mate. They speak to eithical issues on the opposing side, and taking their cues from you highlight only the trivia. They fail to check facts, and post adnauseum about any negativity they could possibly dig up. You claim you have integrity, then please sponsor integrity among your followers. Enough of the slime, please!

While you may have a “rockstar” level following, I’ve yet to hear anything to convince me that I should indeed vote for you. You need to tell me, the small town, middle income, mother, clinging to my religion, more. And you need to be straight with me. No more half truths, no more odd ball associations, no more quirky math.  And just one more thing, It’s Not Above My Paygrade to answer when life begins.

Mr. McCain, I need more depth of information, less hype and more of your “straight talk”. I’ll tell you the same thing I told your opponent. You need to be straight with me. No more half truths, no more odd ball associations, no more quirky math.  Fill in the blanks on the economy, energy and our future. Don’t gloss over the basic needs of middle america like so much fluff.

Gentlemen, you don’t need my advice on these issues. But you certainly need to clear them up. Your acceptance speeches were full of promises, man up and give us the reality.  Americans cannot live on pretty words and promises, we can deal with what is real.

You see gentlemen, I AM smarter than a 5th grader. The future of my country hangs in the balance.

What’s In A Name ?

Lets just get to the issues

Names. Everybody has one, most people have a vague idea what their own means, but few give them much more thought.

The study of names is called onomastics, a field which touches on linguistics, history, anthropology, pyschology, sociology, philology and much more. When people refer to the “meaning of a name”, they are most likely referring to the etymology, which is the original literal meaning.

Seems the far left wing of the Democratic party is out of control over some Republicans and some not so far left wing Democrats using Obama’s middle name.  In case you didn’t know this by now, his name is Barack Hussein Obama. So lets break this down just a bit.

v BARACK

Gender: Masculine Usage: Biblical, Jewish Other Scripts: ????? (Hebrew) Pronounced: BER-ak   [key] Means “lightning” in Hebrew. This was the name of a military commander in the Old Testament.

·         HUSSEIN

Gender: Masculine Usage: Arabic Other Scripts: ???? (Arabic)Variant transcription of HUSAYN

¨       HUSAYN

Gender: Masculine Usage: Arabic Other Scripts: ???? (Arabic)Pet form of HASAN. Husayn ibn Ali (also called Al-Hussein) was the son of Ali and the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. Al-Hasan was his older brother. The massacre of Husayn and his family caused the split between Shiite and Sunni Muslims, which continues to this day. In more recent times this was the name of a king of Jordan.

Ø  HASAN

Gender: Masculine Usage: Arabic Other Scripts: ??? (Arabic)Means “handsome”, derived from Arabic ??? (hasuna) “to be beautiful, to be good”. Hasan was the son of Ali and the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. He was poisoned by one of his wives and is regarded as a martyr by Shiite Muslims.

So, to my friends (left and right) and not so friendly left wing Democrats. GET OVER IT.  Everyone has a name, when I was a young child, I was called by my full name all the time! For the record, its Deborah Jane. In the South, its just polite. Lots of folks can recall their parents calling them by their full name when they were in “trouble”. For what ever reason, we were all (or mostly all) blessed to be given three names. First, Middle, Last.  If being called by his full, proper name is a problem for Mr. Obama, maybe there’s more than meets the eye.

Would it be a “vast right wing conspiracy to call Mrs. Clinton, Hillary Diane Rhodam Clinton?  Perhaps, the far lefties would be happier if the Republicans referred to their candidates as John Sidney McCain, III or Michael Dale Huckabee.

Its all in a name. Its not about inciting fear. Its about calling a horse a horse. Don’t tout your ethnic pride unless you’re proud of it. If you don’t like the conotation your name has, explain it. Don’t hide from it. Be proud of who and what you are. Don’t blame another person for bringing it to light.

Just my opinion. What’s yours?

For the record, I am not espousing hatred, violence, ill will or anything of the like. I am stating an opinion. Period. I am at present an independant voter. That means that I have NO party affiliation. Any implication that I do otherwise is purely misunderstood.
