Don’t Fall For Register.com

reg Dont Fall For Register.com

Register.com has been running an ad on Fox News for a few days, offering a FREE domain name registration for one year. The ad states that the first year is free and can be cancelled at the end of the one year period.

Well that all sounds good, but…… after going to the site that was mentioned in the ad, and going through the machinations, I found that at check out, I was being charged nearly $88! That’s a far cry from FREE!

Being the tightwad that I am, (read: frugal spender), I immediately called on the online support folks and was told that the offer WAS NOT available online. It is ONLY AVAILABLE BY PHONE!

If you want to take advantage of this some what quirky offer, (you can get second year registration much cheaper) you must call their 800 number which is available on their site. My advice…steer clear of Register.com.

Personally I register all of my domains with GoDaddy.com, where you can get domain names for $1.99 any time!
