When in the course of human events....no wait that's the Declaration of Independence. Oh yeah.
More post Blogher drama over at Blurbomat. Oh my goodness, will some people just not grow up? Remember what mama used to tell you about sticks and stones.
I'm absolutely sure that this woman is human. She's not a mythical hobbit, nor Santa Claus, nor is she Jesus. Jenny, The Blogess pointed out that somehow Heather has been elevated to sainthood or something. Its gotten way out of control, in my opinion. (that's my opinion)
Yes, she's opened some doors for women in the internet corridors, but so have lots of other folks. Just take a look over on my sidebar if you want to see a few. Pick a blog, any blog. Read it. Then tell me that blogger hasn't helped us all out in some way.
Frankly, except that Dooce has managed to make a business out of her blogging experience I dont' see much difference between her and me. Lets compare:
High powered career (formerly) - check
Mother- check
Post Partum Depression- check
Married- check
Stay At Home Mom- check
Blogger-check
You could probably place checks beside the same things. Couldn't you?

Let this be why I stick to my own little corner of the blog world. I had no idea this hullabaloo was even happening.
Oh? And? I’m on Team Jenny…now that I know there are teams.

@Steph: my point exactly…lets just all get along for gosh sakes. We all contribute to the cloth, the fabric that makes blogging what it is!

I have never had a high-powered ANYTHING, nor have I been a stay-at-home mom, but your point is well-taken. I think Dooce is the most obvious of those who have paved the way. Thats all she wrote (she being ME), and now Im moving on. Also? Your blog wont accept apostrophes today, just so you know. :) — Laurie

Yes mam- I had no CLUE that people could make $$$ off of blogging when I started the D-POND- I’m not in it for the $$$- Lord knows, I’ve already got one helluva full time job that makes me nutty enough as it is-
But if someone wants to send me a book deal, I’ll snatch it up before you can say “Jerry McGuire”!

I’m not even touching the content with a 10 ft pole, but great points. I think no matter how big or how small your blog is you have contributed to the blogosphere. It would be nice to have the money though, huh?

I think that the blog post you pointed to at blurbomat was an excellent one. As far as drama with Dooce and the Bloggess are concerned - well hateraid is always out there. And remember any PR is good PR even in the blogosphere. I agree with you that all women bloggers have something to add but without doubt Dooce paved the way for many (although I have to admit I really am not a fan. I don’t really get her popularity).

@Renee aka MekhisMom: Thanks Renee, well I’m not sure that Dooce paved the way necessarily. I was online and talking the same stuff years before she did. She did pave the way in the publicity/money making end of it.
However, I do beg to disagree. Not just any PR is good PR online. Bad rep will burn you and if you’re trying to make a go at making money online, its not a good thing. Trying to recoup from bad rep is like herding cats.

@Deb - Gotcha with the money making aspect and understand that you have been blogging longer than Dooce. On the PR front - at this point with the following that Dooce and the bloggess have I don’t know if bad publicity will hurt either of them. The good v. bad PR isn’t necessarily my opinion I basing that on the antics of celebrities especially around the time the movies open, records are released, etc.
Anyhow, interesting post. Good conversation.

Bad publicity is still publicity, is it not.
Both women scored points/readers through this entire drama. But, being that I have the attention span of a flea, I’m over it. Stick a fork in it, it’s done, as are the myriad other associated melodrama’s associated with BlogHer. Oiy!
I haven’t picked sides…don’t spose I will either. I just can’t be bothered to really care about it that much. But I will concede that it will be interesting to see how the mighty blogosphere evolves in the next 18-36 months as new material and writers emerge and readers want more than just the same old, same old. Ya know?

@Auds at Barking Mad: I don’t know. Don’t know their readership, honestly don’t care. My point was that the www is big enough for everyone. And these psudeorockstarblogbombs aren’t all that there is.
